Sahanlahti has something for everyone

Sahanlahti stays active all year round! Sahanlahti offers a wide range of programmes and activities for the whole family, groups, and tourists. In our events calendar, you will find weekly and monthly programmes, as well as one-off events. You can rent equipment for sports or ask us for tips on where to go hiking.

More good tips can be found at Visit Puumala.

Norppa Trail

This stunning ring trail is about 13 km long and can be hiked in both directions. Clockwise, the path is a little easier to follow. You can choose from three short ring trails if you don’t want to walk the whole trail (Kitula trail 3 km, Kaivanto trail 4 km, and Kotkatsaari trail 2.8 km). The route is marked with paint markers in the trees and signposted with metal signs. Along the trail is the stylish Norppa hut, where you can grill sausages during your hike. In addition, there are Saimaa Geopark guide signs along the route telling you about the geological history of the area.

Loketon onkalo

Loketon Onkalo is a mysterious gorge about 70 m long, shaded by rock walls, near Pistohiekka. The trail is about 1.5 km long and can be hiked through a gorge to a rock top picnic area. The route is partly difficult terrain due to ladders and a path on a rocky slope (supported by a rope handrail).

Puumala island route

Go cycling in the great scenery of Saimaa and experience a nice summer trip! There is a ferry along the way, for which you should book in advance. Start the day with a tasty breakfast at Sahanlahti. On the route, you can stop off at different stages for a good meal at the restaurant Niinipuu in Niinisaari or ice cream on the terrace of Hurissalo Sale.
